The
Creative Mentorship Program empowers
students to discover and develop their creative voices and artistic skills
through 20 weeks of dedicated work with a professional artist at Golden Belt
Artist Studios, involvement with the local arts community through monthly field
trips and workshops, and a month-long exhibition in Golden Belt's Room 100
Gallery.

Through this innovative program, students and
mentors work together to discover their passions and strengths. They learn to
problem solve and think creatively. They share their talents and gifts with the
broader community. They have the capacity to broadly envision their future and
build a strong network that will support them in achieving their goals. Our own Jim Lee (in the picture above) is a very active member of the mentor group and often describes it as some of the most fulfilling work he does.
The program is a collaborative partnership between Student U and the Durham Art Guild that started in 2013.
