Each artist watched as the bidding time drew to a close as both images were in a bidding war The winner as always, of course was the VAE!

Forum Member Scott McRae Now Showing at The Center for Photographic Art

If anyone will be in Carmel, California area before January 9, 2016 be sure to stop in to the Center for Photographic Art and see Scott's image "Under the Clouds" there on display. And prominently displayed it is, greeting visitors as they enter!

If you can't get there we have the documentary proof above, but the best thing would be to attend Forum meetings regularly and see great work like Scott's before it even appears on public.

Congratulations to Scott for his work juried into the annual juried exhibition at the Center for Photographic Art!

Fourm Photographers Rock Click! Pop-Up Exhibit!

Once again, Forum photographers make the biggest impression in a photography exhibit. This time it's the Click! Photography Festival Pop-Up exhibit, now up at the Frontier Building in RTP. Forum members, Mike Aliff, Christer Berg, J. Michael Chaney, Michael Liggett, Scott McCrae, Ray Pfeiffer, Teresa Stephens, and Richard Usanis all have work juried into the show.

And it that weren't enough, two of our members took the top two prizes! Christer Berg won first place for his image "Oasis" (which, if you attend meetings regularly, you've all seen), and Teresa Stephens won second place for her image "Crank it again"

Abstract #2335, Blues II (c) Richard A. Usanis

And speaking of Click!, the festival is now in full swing and with over two weeks to go there's still a lot to see and do. Check out the website for updates, and get out and take in an exhibit or take part in an event.

Congratulations to our winners and everyone who was selected to exhibit!

Donate Now to the Durham Art Guild Creative Mentorship Program!

The Durham Art Guild is now accepting donations for the 2016 Creative Mentorship Program.
The Creative Mentorship Program empowers students to discover and develop their creative voices and artistic skills through 20 weeks of dedicated work with a professional artist at Golden Belt Artist Studios, involvement with the local arts community through monthly field trips and workshops, and a month-long exhibition in Golden Belt's Room 100 Gallery.

Our own Jim Lee, back row, second from right.

Through this innovative program, students and mentors work together to discover their passions and strengths. They learn to problem solve and think creatively. They share their talents and gifts with the broader community. They have the capacity to broadly envision their future and build a strong network that will support them in achieving their goals. Our own Jim Lee (in the picture above) is a very active member of the mentor group and often describes it as some of the most fulfilling work he does.

The program is a collaborative partnership between Student U and the Durham Art Guild that started in 2013. If you have additional questions about the Creative Mentorship Program or if you would like to support the program in other ways, please contact the Executive Director at
gallerydirector@durhamartguild.org.
As artists that live and work in the Triangle this program is a great way to give back to the community that supports us. To learn more, go to the DAG website here.
