Third Friday Opening for Stephen Fletcher

This past Friday was Third Friday in Durham, and with that the opening of Stephen Fletcher's exhibit: "Some Semblance" at Through This Lens. The event was well attended, with several of our Forum members among the visitors.

As many of us who attend regularly can attest, the images are outstanding and a great representation of Stephen's body of work. The presentation was also fantastic with the perfect matting and framing. All-in-all, an exhibit well worth seeing. If you didn't make it to the opening on Third Friday, stop in soon. Stephen's work is on display until April 11th. Don't miss it!

To everyone from the Forum who was able to attend, thanks! It's great to see all the support from your peers. That's one of the great things about the group. If you're not attending regularly, you're missing out!

Stay tuned. More to come...

We've been fortunate to see several of the prints Stephen has been working on as he has assembled the exhibition, so I know we're all looking forward to seeing the work on display! So let's get out for Third Friday in Durham and support a Forum Artist.

Stephen will be sharing the gallery this month with photographer Michael Rosenberg who's exhibit American Tobacco Factory: A Reformation of a Factory and a City will also be on display. Due to the snow events of last month it was decided to carry the exhibit over for this month as well. This will be a unique opportunity to view the work of two outstanding artists. Don't miss it!

As always, watch this space for more to come...

Forum Artists Rule the Darkroom + Foundry Exhibit!

Once again, forum artists take the home the prizes in a photography exhibit. Christer Berg has won the First Place price with his piece Oasis.

Scott McRae also takes home an honorable mention for his piece South Shore - Emerald Lake. If you haven't seen the exhibit yet, don't wait much longer. It only runs for about another week.

Congratulations to both our members for their well deserved accolades!

March Meeting News & Notes

This Wednesday was the March meeting of the Photographers Forum at VAE, and as always, there was great conversation and terrific work presented. We also had the pleasure of a sneak preview of this months exhibit: Darkroom + Foundry, which features five Forum photographers with work on display. The exhibit opening is this First Friday, March 6. Don't miss it!

Stephen Fletcher looks on as the group discusses Christer Berg's print
"Oasis" on display this month at VAE. Fred and Tricia admire the print
in the foreground.

Stephen Fletcher also brought several prints which could be candidates for his upcoming exhibition: "Some Semblance" which will run from March 20th, through April 11th, 2015 at Through This Lens (303 E. Chapel Hill Street, Durham). To find out which prints will make the exhibit you'll need to attend the opening on Friday, March 20th 6-9pm. If you were at the meeting you saw just how many outstanding images he has to choose from. So be sure to support a forum artist and don't miss opening night!

March is also the anniversary month for this iteration of our group, and 2015 is our 5th! So join us as we celebrate this milestone at Vic's Italian Restaurant (City Market 331 Blake Street Raleigh) March 11th at 7:00pm. Bring yourself and bring a friend, but just let me know if you will be attending so we can let Vic know.

More to come, so check back often!

VAE Annual Art Auction and Gala is a Huge Success!

Crowds gather to bid during the silent auction.
The 31st Annual Art Auction and Gala held at the Raleigh City Center Marriott was another huge success! And, of course, Forum photographers were well represented. Eric Saunders, Richard Usanis, and Ray Pfeiffer each donated works of art for auction and all were sold!

All in all it was a fantastic evening. We're looking forward to taking part again next year!
